1984.

In the novel 1984 I beleive that it is pretty close to what reality is. It's a very sad and cruel story about Oceania, a fictional environment. Oceania is a place governed by a certain Party that created 4 different ministries. They are the Ministry of Truth, Ministry of Love ,Ministry of Peace, and the Ministry of Plenty. The ministry of Truth controls all past and future documents, entertainment, and education. The ministry of Love deals with miniluv identifying ,arresting, and converting dissidents. The ministry of Peace controls minimax reports OCeania's perpetual war. The ministry of Plenty controls foods and goods.

Winston ,the main character finds himself going against The Party. He remembers his memories, has an affair, and tries what he can to go against the Party. These are things you are not suppose to do because the Party doesn't want you to think for yourself because if you do then you will start to realize whats going on and go against it like winston did. Unfortunately, Winstons failed terribly at going against Big Brother and the Party.

I thought that this book was sad especially since there wasn't an happy ending. One thing that I got from the book was the different foreshadows in every chapter. I think the foreshadow that showed you that Winston wouldn't have a happy ending was when he met O'Brien and he "turned off" the monitor. I knew that those things never really "turn off." After that meeting Winston and his lover Julia were captured. There are so many things that remind me of today with technology. Things like recording cameras that watch everything at all the time. Also people can track you with cell phones. Another thing was about the Newspeak and being able to edit and erase historic documents. This is seen the most in Wikipedia because you can edit and erase whatever you want.Overall this is a good book to read and I refer it to anyone who is interested in technology.
