I have done searches on myself many times. I never am surprised at what comes up. I'm happy that there aren't any crazy pictures or anything like that when my name is looked up. I know if I was a manager I would do a vanity search on every person who applied to see their character outside of the work area. I think that these searches are good or you to do every once and a while to see what you have out there on the internet.
The first article that came up was a interview I had with a representative of World Vision about distressed teens in the U.S. The second thing that came up was a Poetry Out Loud Contest I was in a couple of years ago. There were many of my friends myspace pages that just had my name on them that came up with the search. Another thing that came up were my different scholarships I received at Pierce College. There were also old post from when I was lobbying for the Sexual health Act. It showed things like me being one out of the 3 meeting with a council member. The one thing that I did think was interesting was finding an old page I had on Black Planet which I have tried to delete a million times. Besides that my search wasn't too exciting.

Any employer doing a vanity search on someone could be either good or bad depending on what is out there. Keep in mind that we don't always have control over some things and that the internet could misrepresent information therefore painting the wrong image of someone. The other concern I have for this is that it seems like it could possibly be conflicting with any equal oppurtunity within an organization that is hiring?!?! just my two cents...
