I thought that our conversation with Mark Briggs was good. He talked about a lot of things that would be helpful for our future with newspaper. I think that his book journalism 2.0 would be a good read now that I have heard some of his views. I love how he's so optimistic about the Newspaper companies. He does say that the newspaper companies are simply changing ,but they are not dead.
Serra Media sounds like a really exciting company to be a part of. I can see that in a couple of years maybe even months lots of people are going to build their websites using his different layouts. I think the most interesting layout for me was the Town Luxe because I like to go shopping and if this will help me find places then that would make things easier for me. I like how he created his own website to work out for him. That just shows that if journalism doesn't work out for you then you could make your own website and make the journalism thing work for you!

My First Page
Well to really be honest I created my first page years ago. I had this technology class in highschool and we learned how to make our own websites. Our teacher taught us everything on creating the page then gave us all semester to get it right. My page never turned out the way I wanted it to . I wanted everything to be yellow and purple ,but when I saw the actual page the colors didn't work out too well.I spent weeks and weeks trying to get it right until I gave up.
Two days ago I tried to create a page again using the assignment sheet and for some reason it didn't work. I swear I did everything the sheet told me to do,but somewhere I fell short. The text wasn't looking the way I wanted it to look. There were no breaks in my page at all. After a couple of minutes I got fed up and asked my boyfriend to help me with the page. I should've asked him sooner because he turned out to be an expert. He taught me how to do things like crossout lettering and different texts colors.I asked him how he learned about the text tricks and he told me MYSPACE! I guess myspace does a good job of teaching people on how to create pages?

The Newspaper....has changed
The newspaper business is a hard place to be these days. With the internet news sources it's a surprise to see that they are still in business. Anyone can get the breaking news from their personal computer. Which takes away those monthly fees of having the paper man get out of his bed to deliver. The fact that newspaper online is FREE is what attracts everybody. It's easier to just look at the news online when waking up or before gong to bed. Traditional newspapers take up space in houses. You find more people that have their laptops in the morning at coffee shops more than newspapers now a days.
It seems that the newspaper is slowly ,but surely disappearing. If more people continue to read their daily news online then there won't be a reason to waste the paper. They would turn the newspaper into another going green project to save paper around the world. The Newspaper has indeed changed because people now go online to read it .

Email Vs Postal Mail
I think that we can all agree that the absolute easiest way to send mail is through email. The fact that it is quicker, accurate, and free makes email the top choice. When you send out an email it doesn't need a overpriced stamp or box to send just the click of a mouse. In order for anyone to send anything to you through email your email address has to be accurate. This makes it so that the person emailing you has to know your email address exactly or else their message won't get to you.Email is completely FREE! It's also very convenient to use email. You don't have to run around the city looking for the nearest post office ,but you can use your home computer. Email is even available on cell phones so that makes it even easier. The only downfalls to using email are viruses and spam. Some viruses that are through the email system can shut down a whole system so people using email should never open emails from unknown sources. Spam is very annoying in email in boxes and there is unfortunately no way to completely get rid of it.t seems that even with these minor issues email is the greatest thing since french toast.
U.S. postal mail is what I call the "old fashion" way to get your letter across the world. There are still good things about the system ,but there seems to be more bad things . It allows personalized letters to be sent out to loved ones. Besides that postal mail is time consuming, slow, and not accurate. Think about the last time you had to go to a post office.I'm pretty sure there were lines of people everywhere waiting to reach the front desk. With email there are no lines. Normal shipping times are usually 5-7 business days with U.S. mail.Emails are sent in seconds and they even make it to people on weekends and holidays. There are many times where I have received the wrong letter with the wrong name ,but because the post man saw that the item had the same address they still delivered it . Postal mail seems to be a waste of time even on holidays when your expecting letters from your family members because rarely do you receive those letters on time and that's because of the big holiday mail pot. This is the same pot that ate all of your dear santa letters and has you still wondering why you never get what you wanted for Christmas. Postal mail isn't the easiest way to get things delivered ,but we continue to use it because we haven't found a way to send college texts books electronically. People want the books physically.
Email or Postal mail? It seems that email is the best choice ,but there are people who still love the "old fashion" postal mail system. I'm sure sending the letter through postal mail gives people a sense of security that the letter will make it.However, alot of the times the letter doesn't make it at all. If they would've used email the letter they sent out would show up in their outbox and they would know for sure that their letter was sent and received.Email and Postal mail do have similarities like a mail box, addresses, chain letters, photos, and post offices. However, those similarities don't do the postal mail justice. I grew up in the times of email so that's what I will continue to use. Looks like you'll just have to make your choice based on the facts.
